The genius hacker Pod2G has done wonders again. The New iPad 3 has been successfully jailbroken on iOS 5.1 and the video demo shows that the exploit is untethered which means that you would be able to use your Apple tablet without connecting to the Computer on every reboot.
This jailbreak is not ready for prime time yet and stabilizing it would take some more time. Pod2G is also going to pay attention on iOS 5.1.1. Here’s his statement.
Hey. iPad 3,1 running iOS 5.1 untethered. Next on the list: stabilizing the payload, then trying 5.1.1.
We told you about a week ago that Pod2G has also jailbroken iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1, which means that jailbreaking other A4 devices like iPad and iPod Touch 4G wouldn’t be a hard task. The big hurdle now is to develop an exploit for devices with A5 chip such as iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Right now, we don’t know for sure if the exploit used on The New iPad would also work on A5 devices or not. Only the time will tell. Let’s watch the video demo of this untethered jailbreak.
The whole Apple hackers community is supporting Pod2G, therefore, it’s necessary to highlight the names who also put their efforts in this jailbreak. Boot code execution exploit, ASLR bypass, Sandbox bypass and jailbreak was developed by Pod2G while @westbaer worked on kernel vulnerability. @pimskeks @p0sixninja @xvolks @MuscleNerd @planetbeing @comex and @0naj also supported Pod2G in achieving this goal.
